Environmental compliance

Transurban’s approach to managing our environmental risks is guided by an Environment Management System (EMS) that helps mitigate and manage risks. For day-to-day business, our asset managers and operations and maintenance contractors are responsible for ensuring we comply with relevant environmental laws and regulation.

In October 2013, our Executive Committee approved a new corporate Environment Policy to support our environmental compliance and reduce business risks. As part of this new policy, we are updating our existing Environment Management System (EMS) to meet ISO 14001 standards. Transurban is transitioning to an integrated Health, Safety, Environment, Quality and Road Safety (HSEQRS) management system. This will ensure that we have a common approach to managing performance and environmental impacts and achieve ongoing improvement across Transurban.
