Our approach

We are redefining the way we report. We want to provide a clear, concise and relevant report to all our stakeholders and have made the transition to the GRI G4 ‘Core’ Reporting Guidelines to help us achieve this.

New approaches
To better align with our new sustainability strategy, we will now report under our three sustainability focus areas: Be Good Neighbours, Use Less and Think Long Term.

We understand and appreciate the importance of obtaining external assurance for sustainability data and reports and have done so for the past eight years. This year, however, represents a period of change and growth within our business and during this transition phase we are aiming to review the scope and materiality of our report that will better serve the needs of our stakeholders. As such, we will not be obtaining external assurance this year and aim to obtain external assurance in the next reporting cycle.

Reporting period
This report, which is produced annually, covers the reporting period from 1 July 2013 to 30 June 2014 (Financial Year 2014, or FY14), unless otherwise stated. For selected performance indicators that have been historically tracked, we have included data from the past two years.

Our last Sustainability Report was published on 1 October 2013. It, and our Annual Report 2014, provide additional background to this year’s report and form a more comprehensive picture of Transurban’s overall financial and non-financial performance.

This is our ninth Sustainability Report and the sixth Communication on Progress since becoming a signatory to the United Nations Global Compact in September 2009.

Audience
This report is distributed to both internal and external stakeholders. They include employees, customers, industry groups, investors, governments, media and communities.
